About the Author/Photographer
My first "real" job when I left school was as a builders labourer at AAV, one of Australia's leading Audio Visual production facilities. It was 1979 and we were building a Film Studio to complement the existing Television Suites and State of the Art recording studios.
One day they showed us the latest innovation in Audio Visual technology - a Multi-Media presentation. It was simply a dozen slide projectors flashing images onto an array of screens with a synchronised soundtrack.
Although I remember being rather underwhelmed at the time, it nevertheless triggered my fascination with the potential of media arts and creative communication.
I spent the next seven years studying a multi discipline degree in pre-digital mediums, Super 8 and 16mm Film, Colour and B&W Photography, Television and Sound Production, Animation, Graphic Design, and Writing. (B.A. Deakin)
Upon completion of my degree I developed an interest in education and studied to become a high school teacher in English/Media. (Grad. Dip. Ed. Secondary. Melbourne)
Once I began teaching I realised there were important differences between Primary and High school learning and teaching styles, and so I undertook further study to better understand the whole journey of a child's education. (Grad. Dip. Ed. Studies. Junior Primary. RMIT)
As well as my experiance teaching children of all ages from Kindergarten to Year 12, I have also worked professionally in the Television, Music and Photographic industries.
