Sense of Process

Long ago, when my first ever 35mm SLR camera became jammed after a trip to the beach, the camera mechanic who removed the grains of sand told me that he had disassembled every single part of the camera.

Luckily it was insured!

The important thing is... I would never have attempted to dismantle the camera myself, simply because I had no real "sense" of where to start, how to proceed and somehow bring that process to completion.

Any use of technology is a step by step process, if we dont understand the process it can become a labyrinthine experience.

For children who have already gained a strong sense of process developed through other more sensory mediums, such as traditional arts and crafts, computers tend to make most 'sense' as part of a greater creative process.

One simply approaches the machine, much like more traditional experiences of step by step process, but with the potential of a highly accelerated process time.

This helps form a clear and focused pathway through the labyrinth as the child becomes established in working toward creative outcomes.
